FAQ

Here is a list of commonly asked questions. If you have a question that isn't answered here or woud like more information or clarification, please fill out the form on the bottom of this page and we will get back to you within one business day.

Q: Why should I register my cat?

A: It is a good way to keep an account of your cat's ancestry (pedigree).

Q: Why is this registry just for dwarf cats?

A: Dwarf cats are not recognized as a breed by most of the Cat Registries. We wanted to change that.

Q: My queen is a domestic calico and my sire is a Munchkin. Can I still register the litter?

A: Yes! If your Munchkin (or other dwarf breed) is registered with us, you can use our Other Breed Ancestry form to add your queen to the ancestry of your upcoming litter. Then, once the litter is born, fill out the Litter Registration form and provide us with both the sire's and queen's MRA numbers. Your litter will be added to our registry within a few days of receiving payment.

Q: I bought a kitten and the breeder gave me a Litter Number. Does that mean my kitten is registered with MRA?

A: Your kitten isn't registered just yet, however the registration process was started by the breeder of the litter. Your kitten was given a unique number that acts as a placeholder until you finish registering your kitten. You will still need to fill out the Cat/Kitten Registration form with your kitten's information. Ancestry information will not be needed since it will already be on file.

Q: How does the MRA work? What do I get for my money?

A: The MRA keeps a record of all registered cats/kittens/ancestry breeds. We will email you a Certificate of Registration that you can use online or print out and frame if you so desire.

Q: What if I accientally delete the email with the Registration information? Do I have to pay again?

A: Simply fill out our Lost Registry Info form and we will email you a replacement copy of your cat's registration. There is no fee for the first replacement email, however we do charge a $3.00 service fee for any additional replacements after that.

Q: What is the difference between a "family" cat registration and a "cattery" cat registration?

A: "family" cat is a pet. They may or may not produce litters. A "cattery" cat is mainly used for breeding, and there are usually multiple queens in each cattery.

Q: Why are the Cattery prices lower than the Family prices?

A: Families usually have 1 to 3 cats per household. Catteries have multiple cats with the intended purpose of breeding kittens. We disount their prices since they have many more cats to register.

Q: Are there any benefits of registering my Cattery with MRA?

A: Your Cattery will be placed on our Catteries page with your basic information so that potential customers can easily contact you. You will also receive discounted prices for all registrations.

Q: I don't own a cattery, but I breed cats in my home. Can I still register as a cattery/breeder?

A: Yes! We do ask that breeders have at least 5 breeding cats.

Q: How do I pay you to register my cat? Do you accept credit cards?

A: We only accept payment through PayPal, and you can use your credit card. If you don't have a PayPal account, it is fast, easy and free to set one up.

Q: I don't have a website, can I still be registered as a breeder? What information will you list on the breeder's page?

A: A website is not required to be listed on our breeders/cattery page. We will be happy to list whatever contact information you would like to use: phone, email, etc.
